Nandos Finds A New Flame

Nando’s has struck a flame with South Africa’s favourite satirists, ZANEWS.

Nando’s fires up ZANEWS

“At Nando’s we love that South Africans turn to humour for relief when faced with challenging local current affairs. Like Nando’s, ZANEWS has found laughter to be the best medicine when faced with South Africa’s unique ills. This is why a partnership with ZANEWS is a natural fit,” says Nando’s chief marketing officer for Africa, Middle East and India (IMEA), Doug Place. “We’re thrilled to be extending the voice of ordinary South Africans through our partnership with ZANEWS. From one firestarter to another, we say bem-vindo!”

“The puppets may be too spicy for TV for now but thanks to one of South Africa’s most loved and hottest brands, Nando’s, ZANEWS will be back to keep South Africans laughing this winter. Get ready for an epic new season of Game of Cronies, the long awaited release of House of Discards and the local “heroes” of Guardians of the ANC”, says ZANEWS’ executive producer and creator, Thierry Cassuto. “#WinterIsHere but ZANEWS and Nando’s won’t leave South Africans out in the cold.”

About Nando’s:

Nando’s is a global flame-grilling, PERi-PERi chicken restaurant group. The first Nando’s restaurant was opened in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa, by two friends, Robert Brozin and Fernando Duarte. These original owners continue to play an active role in the management and care of Nando’s. Answering to their vision to take the world’s best tasting chicken to the world, Nando’s restaurants can now be found on five continents. The Nando’s symbol, the Barcelos Cockerel, remains the most visible expression of Nando’s passionate pursuits. Nando’s authentic Peri-Peri has captivated its customers. All Nando’s PERi-PERi recipes, from the extensive range of restaurant chicken-bastings to sauces, spices and others, remain a closely guarded secret. However, it’s Nando’s chicken which has made Nando’s famous. Flame-grilled and never deep fried; customers choose their chicken from a menu that includes full, half or quarter butterfly-cut chicken, burgers, pitas and salads. They then choose their PERi-PERi flavour basting from mild, hot, extra hot or lemon and herb. Other flavours, including Mediterranean and one for children, are also available. Nando’s is the largest South African restaurant group to expand internationally. The group has won major awards, including one of the top five most exciting food concepts in London and Restaurateur of the Year in the UK, and continues to capture the hearts and taste buds of millions of customers every day.
